Amazing tipped shot that caught him right on the center bar. The cage did its' job, though...if it didn't bend, Smith's head would have absorbed all that force in what would probably have been a concussion. As it stands, the cage absorbed some of the force by bending, and he was able to get up in just a few seconds and keep playing.

Also keep in mind that the double center bar is a relatively new revelation to the mask, only a few years old. Now, imagine if his cage only had a single center bar, like some NHL goalies still use...
