Laid Off
Today was a normal day. Got in at 9:00am. Had some coffee, went to the weekly team meeting, played NHL2k7 with my coworkers during lunch.
At 4:50pm today, though, my boss walked smoothly into my office and closed the door behind him. He left after describing the situation and giving me two weeks salary and my vacation time payout. The payroll officer then walked in -- she was waiting outside -- and helped me pack up.
I'm still a bit shocked at the whole event -- understandable, IMO, since it just happened three hours ago. I'm still not completely certain why I was let go...whether there was a reason, or if it was just layoffs. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary in the last few weeks. Hopefully things might be cleared up a bit when I drop by the 'ol office in a few days to drop of some papers.
So I'm out of a job. I'll have to search hard for a new job and go through case studies and interviews until I'm once again employed. On the plus side, I get to sleep in for the next little while.
Now, who knows of any positions in the IT sector? :P
